06 / FIELD NOTES

A little local perspective.
A better next decision.

Practical starting points
for your China conversation.

07 / GOOD QUESTIONS

Before we
get started.

Ask us something else
Can you help if I’m new to China?

Yes. Start with your business idea, product, or existing company. We can help you organize the questions, define your local presence, and plan the next steps in English. You do not need a finished China strategy before you get in touch.

Do you handle company registration and legal work?

Our core work is market-entry planning, digital execution, and launch coordination. Incorporation, legal, tax, and regulated services need appropriately qualified specialists. We identify those requirements with you and agree the responsibilities and specialist scope before proceeding.

Do I need to be in China to start?

We can start the conversation and digital planning remotely. Whether you need to visit later depends on the structure, services, and processes involved. We will separate remote work from steps that require local attendance in your project plan.

Which Chinese platforms should I launch on?

That depends on your customers and product. WeChat, Xiaohongshu, Douyin, Baidu, and marketplaces play different roles. We start with a focused channel plan, and confirm account eligibility and platform requirements before including a launch in the scope.

How much does it cost, and how long does it take?

The scope comes first. After understanding your business, we propose the deliverables, fees, and a realistic schedule. Platform reviews, documentation, and specialist work can affect timing; those dependencies are discussed before you commit.

Your information.

Your enquiry is prepared in your browser. You can instead copy the message and send it through WeChat. Preparing or downloading a brief does not submit it.

We use the information you send to discuss and respond to your enquiry. Form entries are not saved in browser storage. Hosting and email services may process technical logs and delivery records; WeChat handles messages under its own policies. The site includes no advertising or analytics scripts.

CHENGYU FIELD NOTES

Five questions to ask before setting up in China.

A practical starting point for your planning conversation.

01 / Who exactly are you trying to reach?

Name a specific customer, their problem, and why your offer matters. A clear first audience makes decisions about language, channels, and launch priorities easier.

02 / What do you need to learn first?

Separate assumptions from evidence. Consider interviews, a localized landing page, or an initial content test before choosing the full scope of your launch.

03 / Which activities will you actually carry out?

Describe how you intend to sell, receive payment, deliver, and support customers. Have qualified advisers assess which structure and permissions fit those activities.

04 / Who owns each part of the launch?

Write down responsibilities for accounts, content, customer enquiries, operations, and specialist advice. Make ownership and access clear from the start.

05 / What will tell you to take the next step?

Choose meaningful evidence: relevant enquiries, customer conversations, or validated demand. Agree a review point before committing to a larger investment.

General planning guidance. Requirements depend on your activity, location, and structure and should be checked with qualified specialists.

CHENGYU FIELD NOTES

Choose your first channel. Give it a clear job.

A practical starting point for your planning conversation.

01 / Start with the customer, then the platform.

A platform is useful when it matches how your audience discovers, evaluates, and buys. Begin with that journey rather than opening every account at once.

02 / Give each channel one clear role.

A website can explain your offer. Search can help customers find an answer. Social content can introduce the brand. A conversation channel can turn interest into an enquiry. Decide which role matters first.

03 / Check the practical requirements.

Account verification, category eligibility, content, payment, and ongoing operation all need attention. Confirm the requirements directly with the platform or a qualified specialist before promising a launch date.

04 / Review the quality of the response.

Look beyond views. Track whether the right people understand the offer, ask useful questions, and take a meaningful next step. Use that feedback to refine your message.

General planning guidance. Requirements depend on your activity, location, and structure and should be checked with qualified specialists.

CHENGYU FIELD NOTES

What a China-ready digital presence really needs.

A practical starting point for your planning conversation.

01 / An offer that is easy to understand.

Explain the customer problem, the value, and the next step in natural Chinese. Adapt the message and examples, not just individual sentences.

02 / A page that works where customers open it.

Test on mobile devices and within the apps your audience uses. Check loading, forms, fonts, maps, and third-party dependencies from the target market.

03 / A credible way to start a conversation.

Show your real company identity and a working contact route. Make QR codes readable and explain what happens after a visitor submits an enquiry.

04 / An operating plan after launch.

Decide who updates content and answers enquiries. Review hosting, filing, and privacy requirements for your particular setup with the appropriate specialists.

General planning guidance. Requirements depend on your activity, location, and structure and should be checked with qualified specialists.
